More affordable

MORE_affordable

Am I the only one who finds it a bit odd for framesets (not complete bikes) priced at $3,500 and $2,849 to be described as “more affordable?”

  2. It's all relative, right?

  3. Turbo: I think that's why they said "more affordable" rather than "affordable."

  4. I always get a kick out of comments from my cycling friends about the price of a season pass or snowboard gear when they spend thousands on bikes and plane tickets to race.

  6. One of the frames has "Paris" in the name, and the other has "race" so they must be high-end. And dirtbag racers as ourselves find ways to never pay retail, so they know that "more affordable" and a $3k price tag will only be appealing to their taget audience: the rich mid-life crisis crowd who will let the frame hang in the garage (in a highly visible spot of course) so to then be able to brag about being a "cyclist". LA/Trek and the Madone have perfected the strategy.

  7. More affordable is better then the recent, "Less Affordable," strategy Specialized just went for by raising the prices on almost all their bikes some $500-$800.

  8. What is the big deal. Its just money. More is always being printed.

  9. I sawthat ad and thought the exact same thing. One of those "trickle down" frames costs more than the retail price of any complete bike I've ever owned.

  10. FG: I'm in the same boat. I've never spent that much on a bike.

  11. Maybe there should be an award at every race of least expensive bike, best result.

  12. Forrest, I'm pretty sure Bart G. could ride Napoleon Dynamite's sledgehammer and still beat me in a cross race. But I like where you're going with this idea.

  13. You only find it odd because you aren't a bike salesman working on commission. Golly, that describes a lot of us!

  14. I'd comment, but then everybody would make fun of me for how much I just spent on my new bike.

  15. Watcher: as long as you don't claim it was "more affordable," I don't care what you spent on your bike.
